The Origin of the Jesuits

Date of Publication: March 28, 1997

This book was first published in 1940. Irish born Father Brodrick was educated in Dublin and London and wrote extensively on Jesuit history. This book was intended as an introduction to a larger, more complete Jesuit history. It covers the period of the life of Ignatius of Loyola (the Jesuit founder) in a period of Catholic Church history known as the "Counter Reformation". The Jesuit role in that movement is not a central theme, but it is noted throughout.
